Tor Alva Is The World’s Tallest 3d-printed Building That Ever Exists


Towering over the rooftops of Mulegns, a tiny Swiss Alpine village with only 12 permanent residents, the newly unveiled Tor Alva (White Tower) is now the world’s tallest 3D-printed building.
Standing 30 meters high, the tower features a modular design with 32 individually printed columns, all connected by giant screws and steel cables instead of cement. This innovative structure uses no steel frame, yet its creators insist that advanced 3D-printed concrete technology makes it extremely safe, easy to dismantle, and reusable.

Tor Alva’s official page highlights its pioneering use of thin-walled, material-efficient components and modular construction, which promote future reuse and sustainability. The tower was inaugurated on May 20, 2025, drawing a crowd of 300 people who climbed its 3D-printed stairs to a domed theater at the top, offering both artistic performances and stunning alpine views. Designed by architects and researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Tor Alva showcases cutting-edge advancements in computational design, digital fabrication, and structural engineering, setting new standards for sustainable construction.
