Colbert Minimizes L.A. Riots in Cringe-Worthy Fashion

There’s nothing funny about an elderly person struggling with stairs.

For four-plus years, those unofficial rules were lifted for one reason. The elderly U.S. president and his administration consistently lied about his physical and mental fitness. And, sadly, President Joe Biden struggled with stairs as well as flat surfaces.

He wasn’t well, but both the Legacy Media and Democrats shouted otherwise.

Rebel comedians seized on Biden’s fragile state, knowing that to do so would let the public know the truth behind the presidential lies.

It was darn near patriotic and admittedly comical in a dark, depressing way.

Stephen Colbert, an alleged satirist by trade, helped hide Biden’s condition for partisan reasons. Now, after the whole world is learning details of Biden’s decline, Colbert insists President Donald Trump is equally stymied by stairs.

Except Trump recovered from a recent stair stumble, rendering the gesture meaningless. Colbert’s “Late Show” scribes pounced and seized anyway.

The far-Left show created a fake GOP ad saying President Trump is declaring war on stairs. It starts with the leader’s mild stumble and segues to viral videos where ordinary people slip on stairways.

It’s gross on the surface, if only because Team Colbert covered up Biden’s countless stumbles – both physical and rhetorical.

It gets worse, though.

The rest of the clip mocks President Trump for summoning the troops to fight his anti-stair battle. It’s a riff on his call to summon the National Guard to secure the peace during L.A.’s latest riots. Or, “mostly peaceful” burnings, lootings and attempts on police officers’ lives.

The video has one laugh – the “dogs and cats” line is old but reflects Trump’s 2024 overreach on one of the crazier narratives in recent years.

The rest is flat. Here’s why.

President Trump, for now, isn’t stumbling through his second term. Yes, he’s 78 but he appears to be in robust health. It’s similar to how “The Simpsons” portrayed Trump as weak and tired a few years ago.

Satire demands a kernel of truth to hit home.

Secondly, the L.A. riots are real and horrific. Someone may die if they continue. We’ve already seen burned cars, blocked highways and looted businesses. The latter may never recover.

It’s serious business.

Colbert is all too eager to minimize that, as opposed to using humor to mock politicians who similarly downplay the chaos.

That’s not satire. It’s propaganda. And nobody does that better than Colbert. Sadly.
