Craig Conover Says ChatGPT Is His ‘Therapist’: ‘It Knows My Love Language’

Southern Charm star Craig Conover has turned to artificial intelligence as a form of therapy.
“ChatGPT is, like, the best therapist in the world,” Conover, 36, quipped on the Wednesday, June 25, episode of “The Toast” podcast. “People have two schools of thought on this. One of my best friend’s wives is a therapist, and we debate this, but ChatGPT has gotten me to a place [where I feel better].”
Conover clarified that he also sees a “real therapist” — who doesn’t know about his AI assistant.
“It remembers everything about you, and I also talked to it throughout my relationship,” Conover said, referring to now-ex Paige DeSorbo. “It knows my love language. I used to ask it for advice for everything, and so it’s helped me through this breakup.”

According to Conover, he programmed his ChatGPT bot to deal with “self-inflection” so he could move on.
“I don’t think you break up with someone you want to be with, so it was never, like, ‘How do I fix this or get back?’ It’s like, ‘How do I not lose my purity? How do I not lose my softness [and] how do I keep hope that love isn’t pointless?’” Conover explained. “You put so much into something and then they just leave, and I wanted to know that I wasn’t crazy by thinking that was OK [for wanting those things].”
To use ChatGBT as a therapist, Conover will “randomly talk to it” while in the car.
“I’m not giving advice to anyone, but for me it works,” he said. “It keeps this profile on you. I just liked it. I’m very fortunate that I get to speak around the country every week … [and] gratitude is so important. I would talk to these crowds — everyone’s been broken up with. You’re like, ‘Oh, we’re all going through the same human experience.’ It just looks a little different.”

DeSorbo, 32, broke up with Conover in fall 2024 after three years of dating.
“She was like, ‘I need to find myself.’ She’s like, ‘I have to take control of my life again and we need to break up,’” Conover said of the breakup during an episode of Southern Charm earlier this year. “I wasn’t going to f***ing say anything because I didn’t want it to be real. She asked me to buy her a ring and I did. I went to New York [and] designed this whole ring.”
While DeSorbo has claimed that there was never an engagement ring, Conover maintains that he had a diamond all picked out.
“I think I did a good job,” he said on “The Toast,” adding that he had fun shopping for the four-carat cushion cut bauble with a hidden halo.
Conover was later linked to Natalie Buffett earlier this spring, but clarified he is now single.
“I am [single],” he added on Wednesday’s episode, without mentioning Buffett by name. “She will be someone’s perfect person. I just wasn’t ready to date, but I didn’t know that. There’s no guidebook for this. I mean, ChatGBT could talk to [me], but I didn’t ask.”
