David Beckham to Be Awarded Knighthood by King Charles: Reports

At long last, David Beckham is on the cusp of receiving his long-awaited knighthood.
Beckham, 50, will be given a knighthood in King Charles‘ birthday honors list, according to reports published by BBC Sport and The Times on Thursday, June 5.
The declaration comes after decades of Beckham being at the forefront of British culture and charity work. The former Manchester United star was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2003 and serves as an ambassador for Unicef and the King’s Foundation.
King Charles’ honors list is expected to be announced next week.

The knighthood means Beckham’s wife, Victoria Beckham, will be known as Lady Beckham.
Earlier this month, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that David “really wants the knighthood.”
“He’s very patriotic and loves his country,” the source explained. “It’s in his grasp.”
The insider added, “Beckham has done so much charity work with Charles and they are very close. Charles even gave Beckham a birthday present for David’s 50th [birthday].”
Indeed, the bond between David and Charles, 76, was on full display at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show on Monday, May 19, where the King could be seen asking David if he had received his gift.
While David celebrated his 50th birthday with a lavish party in London last month, the soiree was also a tipping point in the current feud that has engulfed his family.
David and Victoria’s son, Brooklyn, and his wife, Nicola Peltz-Beckham, were noticeably absent from the party. (David and Victoria share 4 kids: sons Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13.)
Multiple sources have exclusively told Us that the couple’s decision not to attend the party was rooted in two things: Brooklyn’s tension with his brother Romeo and Nicola’s “bad blood” with Victoria.
Last week, a source exclusively told Us that Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, haven’t been in touch with the family since the party.

“There hasn’t been any sort of resolution from either side,” the source said, noting that David and Victoria, 51, haven’t attempted to reach out either.
Brooklyn recently made a “quick” trip from his home in Los Angeles to London, where his family lives, but he didn’t reach out “because things are tense and he didn’t think it would be a productive conversation.”
Despite the current state of affairs, a separate source told Us that David and Victoria, 51, are still holding out hope for a path forward.
“Friends and people around them see a long road to mending this,” the insider explained. “But there is a desire to mend on David and Victoria’s part.”
