Family Karma’s Rish Defends Himself After Monica Claimed He Cheated on Her

Fans of the former reality show Family Karma only found out that Monica Vaswani and Rish Karam called it quits after she accused him of cheating.

As documented by Bravo fan accounts, Monica, 32, took to her Instagram Story on Sunday, June 1, with photos of unopened condoms, writing, “So done with all the lies. This isn’t the same girl that was blinded by you while filming. Did you think I was that dumb @rishkaram.”

Monica also shared alleged Instagram DMs she received from a woman who apparently hooked up with Rish. “We kissed. He said he was single. Wanted to see me today. Good luck,” read the messages from the unknown woman.

Rish, however, claimed he wasn’t unfaithful — because his engagement to Monica was over.

Failed Reality TV Romances Over the Years

“Monica Vaswani & I have not been together for over a month,” Rish wrote via Instagram Story on Sunday. “She entered my apartment unannounced and without my permission while I was traveling out of the country, went through my personal belongings & took out of context photos to post on social media.”

In his statement, Rish denied still being in a relationship with Monica. “I never cheated on her and only wanted to give her my absolute best while we were in a relationship,” he continued. “It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out and she asked me to not openly talk about us splitting up as she needed time to process.”

He concluded: “Unfortunately my kindness was taken advantage of & she took control of the narrative, which is manipulative, unacceptable, & disgusting.”

Rish uploaded a screenshot showing footage of Monica’s parents in his apartment when she allegedly moved out, writing, “Her parents assisted her with moving out of our apartment on 4/21/25, which is depicted in this photo. I’ve been single ever since.”

Before their offscreen breakup, the Family Karma alums weathered infidelity rumors on the show. The reality series, which aired from 2020 to 2023, chronicled the lives of several Indian-American families over three generations who relocated to the Florida area around the same time.

Monica was an original cast member and Rish joined one season later as her boyfriend. In season 3, Rish denied rumors that he cheated on Monica as they discussed their plans for the future together.

“To be honest, by 30 I thought that I would be starting this next chapter, be married, have children. So I’m at a loss. I’ve done everything the right way until now. I have the 9-to-5 job, I have the respect of my parents,” she said in a confessional at the time. “But what am I doing this all for? Maybe I do need to shake things up because this is the first time in my life where I feel like I don’t know where my life is potentially headed.”

In November 2023, Monica and Rish announced that they were engaged after several years of dating.

“We found our way. True love is learning, growing and never giving up,” Monica wrote via Instagram. “We were blessed to be surrounded by incredible friends & family who supported us each step of the way. Our hearts are so full and I’m over the moon to share our engagement with you .”

Rish gushed about the major milestone as well, writing, “I’m beyond blessed & grateful to call you my best friend, soulmate, & now MY FIANCÉ! Your zest for life, beautiful smile, & pure heart are a few of the many reminders of why I’m so lucky to be doing life with you. I’m so excited for this next chapter of our lives! Cheers to all of the adventures life has planned for us, love you baby girl .”

Family Karma was put “on pause” that same month, with NBCUniversal Entertainment Chairman Frances Berwick telling Variety that “in my heart of hearts, I believe we will bring it back at some point.”
