Hugh Jackman Stays Focused After Deborra-Lee’s ‘Betrayal’ Claims: 1st Pic
Hugh Jackman stepped out — or biked out — for the first time after his ex Deborra-Lee Furness filed for divorce and spoke of “betrayal” in a public statement.
Photos obtained by Us Weekly showed Jackman, 56, riding a Citibike around New York City on Wednesday, May 28. The actor kept it casual in blue jeans and a T-shirt with a rain jacket. He also had a helmet on his head and mirrored sunglasses.
Jackman’s outing came one day after his estranged wife Furness, 69, made a rare comment after filing for divorce from the Australian star.
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness told the Daily Mail on Tuesday, May 28. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
She added, “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.”
Furness noted her “hurt” but explained that “but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” as the statement continued. Furness noted that “none of this is personal” as she concluded.
“We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random,” she shared. “We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves… I remain grateful.”

Us Weekly confirmed on Tuesday that Furness had filed for divorce from Jackman after announcing their separation in September 2023. (Furness and Jackman married in 1996 and adopted son Oscar and daughter Ava throughout their time together.)
More than a year after announcing their split, Us exclusively reported that Jackman’s close-knit relationship with The Music Man costar Sutton Foster was the reason he and Furness broke up.
“Sutton and Hugh’s relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced,” a source shared at the time. “A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people.”
Foster, 50, starred alongside Jackman on Broadway for 11 months, starting in 2022.
“Everyone respected their privacy,” the same source told Us. “But there was an affair and overlap.”
