King Charles Offers Rare, Informal Glimpse of Royal Office

King Charles is offering a special look into his behind-the-scenes life — and royal followers are loving it.
On Saturday, June 21, the royal family shared via Instagram that Charles recently recorded a 70th anniversary message for the BBC World Service’s annual Antarctic Midwinter Broadcast, which will be broadcast the same day.
While the images in the post were mostly geared toward the broadcast, the social media announcement also offered a rare glimpse into the monarch’s office presumably inside Buckingham Palace, which revealed a lot about his personality and style preferences.
The first photo in the photo carousel shows a smiling King Charles seated at his desk. The monarch is wearing a cream jacket and has his arms clasped in front of him. The office is outfitted with a white couch decorated in what appears to be a purple floral pattern and red checkered pillows. The fireplace mantle is decorated with multiple horse figurines, a nod to the interest Charles shares with wife Queen Camilla.

In addition to the recent interview, Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77, took the time to remember their late fathers in honor of Father’s Day on June 15. “To all Dads everywhere, we wish you a happy Father’s Day today,” the royal family shared via Instagram on Sunday, June 15, alongside throwback photos of Charles with his father, Prince Philip, and Camilla with her dad, Major Bruce Shand.
Charles did not share a photo of himself with his sons, Prince Harry and Prince William amid the ongoing rift within the royal family. (Prince Harry has been estranged from both his brother and his father since he stepped away from his royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California alongside his wife, Meghan Markle.) Charles and William did spend time together at Trooping the Colour on June 14.
“Another brilliant day at Trooping the Colour for His Majesty’s Birthday Parade. Thank you to everybody who came, and to all those who took part,” the Prince of Wales, 42, and Princess Kate Middleton shared via Instagram on Saturday, along with a photo of their family, including children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
The event was not attended by Harry or Meghan Markle. In addition to enjoying life in Montecito, California, alongside their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, they stay busy with the Archewell Foundation and their Netflix partnership. Meghan, 43, also hosts her own podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder.”
Despite their ups and downs, the Duke of Sussex recently shared that he would love to make amends with Charles as he doesn’t know “how much longer” his father has. (Charles is battling an undisclosed form of cancer.)
