The 2025 Thesis Exhibition at Lehman College Art Gallery showcases artwork by graduate and undergraduate students of the Lehman College Art Department. Each student’s presentation represents a yearlong creative investigation in collaboration with a faculty mentor. A spectrum of media will be represented, including painting, animation, printmaking, bookmaking, installation, performance, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, design, and original comics.

Thesis work by graduating students explores a broad array of individual experiences alongside urgent political and social issues facing their communities today. The art on view speaks to the contemporary human condition, with meditations on themes like nostalgia for early digital culture, grief, community, chaos, and human interaction as well as the healing powers of art, persistence, and determination, plus autobiographical and slice-of-life comics.

The Art Department within the School of Arts and Humanities at Lehman College is committed to uplifting the diverse range of vibrant and creative voices within the vicinity of the Bronx and broader New York City with an emphasis on equity, social justice, and inclusion alongside artistic development and creative exploration.

Nestled on a pastoral campus next to the Jerome Park Reservoir, the acclaimed Lehman College Art Gallery shares a Marcel Breuer-designed modernist building with the Art Department on the City University of New York campus in the north Bronx.
