More Signs of Sanity in Hollywood

Hulk Hogan’s 2024 Trump endorsement turned a few heads in Hollywood.

It didn’t suggest a cultural shift or allow other stars to do the same sans consequences. Zachary Levin’s subsequent Trump endorsement turned more heads.

The “Chuck” alum was coming off two box office disappointments (“Harold and the Purple Crayon,” “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”). Going MAGA wasn’t going to help his job prospects. He admitted as much at the time.

Sylvester Stallone’s post-election embrace of the 45th and 47th president felt bigger and more unexpected.

Now, two more prominent names have defied Hollywood groupthink. These are still isolated incidences, but the more they pile up, the more free will stars will enjoy.

That’s a good thing, of course.

Veteran Hollywood producer Brian Grazer’s name is attached to some of the biggest films over the past 30 years.

  • “Apollo 13”
  • “A Beautiful Mind”
  • “Splash”
  • “Kindergarten Cop”
  • “The Nutty Professor”
  • “Frost/Nixon”

A new FOX Nation docuseries caught up with the 73-year-old Grazer, a longtime Democratic donor, and learned something unexpected. Grazer voted for Trump in 2024. He made the confession in “Art of the Surge,” admitting he pondered whether the move might lead to his cancellation.

Remember, the Blacklist 2.0 is alive and well, at least for now.

Grazer referenced President Joe Biden’s “hidden” decline as part of his rationale for the decision.

It’s still a sign that some are willing to buck the industry’s groupthink and make their own decisions. Even in public.

Especially in public.

The same is true for Tom Felton, best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” films. His “Potter” co-stars have slammed author J.K. Rowling, whose literary world made them rich and famous, for rejecting elements of the trans community’s platform.

More recently, Rowling has excoriated those who want trans women to compete against biological women in sports.

Not Felton.

The actor is bringing the role back via Broadway’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” He strolled the red carpet over the weekend and refused to play by the rules regarding Rowling.

The Legacy Media and the Left, but we repeat ourselves, loathe her.

When asked if asked if the controversy around the author’s views on gender identity affect his work, the star replied: “No, I can’t say it does. I’m not really that attuned to it… I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She’s responsible for that, so I’m incredibly grateful.”

None of this suggests a collective sea change in thought within celebrity circles. The Resistance 2.0 is in full swing after a sluggish start. Stars still risk plenty by defying the progressive narrative and most will savage Rowling, President Trump or any right-leaning figure.

Still, the more times stars speak their minds without worrying about the consequences, the more artists will be free to think for themselves.
