Olympian Ryan Lochte and Estranged Wife Kayla Reid’s Relationship Timeline
Olympic champion Ryan Lochte and his estranged wife, Kayla Reid, built a life together before she suddenly filed for divorce in June 2025.
Lochte, a 12-time Olympic medalist in swimming, and Reid, a model and realtor, got married in 2016 and welcomed three children together: son Caiden in June 2017, and daughters Liv, in June 2019, and Georgia, in 2023.
Reid announced she had filed for divorce in a June 4 post on social media.
“Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,” Reid wrote via Instagram. “I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life. I’ve been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing — not from fresh, open wounds.”

People reported that Reid made the divorce filing on March 26.
Reid continued, “Sometimes we face trials we didn’t choose or see coming. And in those moments, we’re forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future. I’ve come to the understanding that staying isn’t always the most loving decision someone can make. For me, leaving was an act of love — for those around me and for myself.”
Lochte addressed the divorce filing shortly after Reid made the announcement.
“Although this decision hasn’t been easy, I believe it’s the right step toward peace and well-being for us both,” he wrote via Instagram. “I remain committed to healing, growth and coparenting with care and respect as we move forward separately. Thank you to our family and friends for your continued support. It truly means a lot as we begin this new chapter.”

“We don’t take our homes, our titles, or our things to heaven, just the hearts we’ve nurtured,” she wrote. “On Mother’s Day, I’m reminded that the greatest legacy I’ll ever build is in the lives of my children.

Reid announced she had filed for divorce, and that she’d be relying on her faith to help get her through.
“I believe God is still at work — even in the breaking, even in the unknown,” she shared in her statement. “I choose to believe that new growth can emerge from broken ground. Moving forward, I’m choosing to give myself grace. I’m choosing resilience. And I’m choosing to believe that what lies ahead will bring strength and peace. Your prayers and continued support mean the world to me right now.”
