Although the fan vote does not materially impact voting by the 1,200 industry professionals who choose the inductees, it is often a good indicator that the artist in question will achieve enshrinement into the Rock Hall. The only time the top fan vote-getter was not inducted in the same year was in 2020, when Dave Matthews Band accrued more than a million votes. The group wasn’t inducted until 2024.
Inductees will be announced Sunday (April 27) during an episode of American Idol, as will Musical Influence, Musical Excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award selections.
The ceremony itself will take place in Los Angeles this fall on a date to be announced.
