‘Snow White’ Bombs (Again) … So Does This Action Thriller
If at first you don’t succeed …
Disney’s “Snow White” became one of the year’s biggest box office duds mere weeks ago. The film’s theatrical release shrunk to a few hundred theaters last week before its VOD debut May 13.

End of story. Not so fast.
Disney re-released the film in more than a thousand theaters over the weekend, hoping to build on the Mother’s Day holiday.
Not quite.
“Snow White” pulled in $335K over the weekend, giving it a 13th place ranking. The movie’s per-screen average proved even worse – $251.
Meanwhile, other releases did most of the heaving lifting over the holiday weekend. “Thunderbolts*” fell just 55 percent for another first-place finish, suggesting word of mouth is helping this MCU entry. The film made $33 million stateside for a $128 million US haul to date.
“Sinners” also held strong, earning $21 million for a combined $218 million stateside.
The news proved grim on another front.
“Shadow Force,” an action thriller starring Kerry Washington, stumbled in its opening frame despite little new competition. The movie earned just $2 million on 2,000+ screens.
The worse news? The film cost $60 million.
“Shadow Force,” co-starring Mark Strong, Omar Sy and Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph, wasn’t screened for critics and had micrscopic pre-release buzz. That title screamed “streaming title,” too.
The reviewers who did check it out weren’t pleased, witness its 32 percent “rotten” rating. General audiences begged to differ – an 82 percent “fresh” score from consumers.
Either way, it gives 2025 another massive flop for Hollywood to consider, joining “The Alto Knights,” “Mickey 17” and “Wolf Man.”
