Timothy Busfield Speaks Out Amidst Serious Allegations

Timothy Busfield has broken his silence following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Albuquerque Police Department on January 9. The warrant alleges that the seasoned actor engaged in unlawful sexual conduct involving twin boys aged 11. According to their parents, the children met Busfield while he was directing the second season of the FOX series, The Cleaning Lady.

On Tuesday, Busfield, who is married to actress Melissa Gilbert, surrendered to the police in Albuquerque and shared a video statement that was later obtained by TMZ. In the footage, he addressed the audience directly, stating, “Hi everybody, it’s Tim. I’m sure most of you know, that are watching this, that I was ordered to come to Albuquerque – I’m here now. I got the call Friday night, I had to get a lawyer. Saturday I got in the car, drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I’m gonna confront these lies. They’re horrible.”

He emphasized his innocence, adding, “They’re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys and I’m gonna fight it. I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.” Busfield concluded his message with gratitude for his supporters, expressing hope for a swift return to work.

In previous interactions with law enforcement, Busfield claimed he did not recall ever tickling or lifting the two young actors, although he acknowledged that some form of physical contact could have occurred. An officer’s report noted, “If it happened, I don’t remember overtly tickling the boys ever, but it wouldn’t be uncommon for me.” Busfield also stated he was never alone with the alleged victims.

Interestingly, the report revealed that Busfield and his wife had established a relationship with the families of the alleged victims outside of work and even exchanged Christmas gifts. This detail adds a layer of complexity to the situation, highlighting the interactions they had beyond the professional realm.

Last year, a therapist reported a conversation with one of the alleged victims, who claimed that Busfield had “touched and rubbed his penis 3 or 4 times” and appeared to feel shame about the incident. These allegations have intensified the scrutiny surrounding Busfield and the ongoing investigation.

Regarding Melissa Gilbert, a representative stated that she is focused on supporting her family during this challenging time. “During this period, her focus is on supporting and caring for their very large family, as they navigate this moment,” the statement read. “Melissa stands with and supports her husband and will address the public at an appropriate time.”

Timothy Busfield is widely recognized for his role as Danny Concannon on the acclaimed television series The West Wing. As this situation unfolds, a representative from Warner Bros. Television, the production company behind The Cleaning Lady, affirmed their commitment to the safety of their cast and crew. “The health and safety of our cast and crew is always our top priority, especially the safety of minors on our productions. We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and have systems in place to promptly and thoroughly investigate, and when needed, take appropriate action. We have been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement,” the statement concluded.
