Heather Rae El Moussa and husband Tarek El Moussa have been on their couple’s therapy journey for a few months — but she wishes it started even sooner.

“I think people put therapy [in] a negative context, which I don’t think it is,” Heather, 37, exclusively told Us Weekly, while promoting her partnership with Orgain Clean Nutrition Products. “I think that it can be a really positive thing for an individual and as a couple, and communication is key in any relationship, in a marriage and a best friend and parents.”

Heather admitted that she “truly” wishes the couple started therapy before they tied the knot in 2021 “just to learn to communicate through things.”

“As you grow together, challenges just naturally come into life. It’s natural. Everyone goes through ups and downs and is learning how to work through them as best friends, as a couple, and navigating through certain hardships — or not hardships, just communication.”

Heather Rae and Tarek El Moussa Are ‘In Therapy’ About Having More Kids

Heather, who’s mom to 2-year-old son Tristan, shared in March that she and Tarek, 43, don’t see eye-to-eye about whether they should expand their family — with the Selling Sunset star wanting another baby while Tarek is more apprehensive. (Tarek is also dad to daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9, whom he shares with ex-wife Christina Haack.)

Heather noted that their disagreement over family plans is not the reason why they are in therapy. (Tarek clarified to Us in April that the pair were in therapy before their family planning debate began.)

“Talking about having another baby is just one layer. It’s not why we were in therapy, like Tarek said,” Heather added. “Like we said, we don’t view it as something negative. It’s something positive in our life that we actually look forward to going to together, and it’s bringing us closer together and having that deeper relationship.”

Heather gushed that she and Tarek are “best friends,” noting that she wants to be with the Flipping 101 With Tarek El Moussa star “forever.”

Tarek El Moussa and Heather Were in Couples Therapy Before Baby Debate

“It takes work. I mean, that’s the reality of life and marriage, but we are talking about possibly having another baby. I would like one, Tarek feels done, and I think that’s also very real,” she said. “I think a lot of couples go through this.”

Heather went on to explain that she is “a little bit older,” and is “a woman” who has “a time clock.”

“I think it’s natural for a woman to kind of start making that decision,” she added of her desire to have another child. “Is it going to work for our family, or are we good as we are?”

While Heather is a big proponent of therapy, she also finds time to prioritize her physical health and ensure she gets enough protein thanks to Orgain’s Vegan Organic Nutrition Shakes.

“As a busy mom with a newborn and with children and a husband that is very needy, I had to get things that were really easy. So the nutritional shakes were easy for me to just grab and go and keep on my bedside, keep it in my fridge upstairs and throw in my purse,” she said, while reflecting on her postpartum journey.

“They are shelf stable. They don’t have to stay cold. So it’s just important that we talk about health and wellness in our house and ever since I met Tarek, his health has — I mean, it’s done a whole 360,” she continued. “He is so much healthier now that he’s met me, and I’m proud of that because I helped him change his life around.”
